  • 7/9/07 Very wrong. But also funny. As long as you didn't happen to serve in the first world war.
  • 4/7/07 Geez, long time and nothing new. Over a year in fact. I'm not particularly feeling like writing a major essay right now, but I would like to say that Mr James "let's lock up ALL muslims" Baker is a wanker. Also, a lament that there's no decent pages on Australian politics with current information about the various politicians and where they stand on various issues (This site, for example, still lists Mark Latham as being the leader of the ALP, despite Big Uncle Kim and K-Rudd both having held the position since then).
  • 8/2/06 Equality, Hypocrisy and Tony Abbott. I weigh in on the abortion debate.
  • 12/12/05 Haven't written anything in a while, so I'll leave you with a few links. Read the names carefully:
  • 7/10/05 Suck on this, Sony. Mod chipping of Playstations, and therefore presumably other gaming consoles, found legal in Australia. Though our copyright laws were made more consumer-unfriendly as part of the US-Australia free trade agreement, the court upheld that in the case of mod-chipping no "technological protection measure" is being bypassed. That is, the region coding chip (which is modified to allow playing games from other regions) does not actually prevent the copyright violation from occurring in the first place, and therefore is not covered by the law. More info here at Groklaw (and may other places: this has made news).
  • 17/8/05 Global warming is inversely proportional to the number of pirates. A while ago the Kansas (USA) district school board decided that, as well as evolution, Kansas children should be taught about an alternate theory which says that everything was designed by God and that certain things that occur in nature (such as life, or at least certain parts of it) are too complicated to have occurred by chance. What's really ironic about this is that the latter theory is called "Intelligent Design" even though none of its proponents display even a glimmer of intelligence themselves. Anyway, this guy says it much better than I can.
Thanks to Ryan for the link.
  • 15/8/05 Now Steve Bracks is clamouring for the top rate of income tax to be cut, according to this article from The Age. Maybe he should leave Labour and join the Liberal Party - they seem generally pretty keen on that kind of thing. On the other hand, maybe there's not that much difference between Liberal and Labour now anyway.
  • 15/7/05 Welcome to the new financial year. Read about the overblown nightmare we call copyright law.
  • 14/5/05 Tax Cuts for the Rich - the latest initiative from the Howard government.
  • 8/4/05 What a joke; the Reserve Bank has now come forth and said that they made a inquiries to the AEC about the guff Howard and his minions were spewing about interest rates as part of the Liberal election campaign. Sigh; if only they'd done so before the election. Oh, and has anyone noticed how the interest rate has gone up a few times since the Liberals got in?
  • 29/3/05 [external] Save Toby. Evil genius at its best.
  • 16/2/05 Another political commentary site, this one (as it freely admits by its title) inherently anti-Liberal - Completely Biased.
Update 17/5/05: New URL for Completely Biased.
  • 20/1/05 This was in The Age: "Surely every self-respecting sportsman knows one does not shoot a sitting wasp. In Hampshire, we shoot the driven wasp, high and fast-flying. In a good summer, I have been known to bag as many as one." - Alan Witherby, wasp shooter
  • 19/1/05 The Awful Truth.Welcome to the new year. Read my full statement about Labour's loss at the election.
  • 30/12/04 Anger. My shit-for-brains ISP, bizmail.com.au, have seemingly changed my supposedely static ip-address in the process of transferring me to another ISP, vic.chariot.net.au. They've managed to do this without even informing me that the transfer was going to take place, which leaves me wondering what sort of mickey-mouse operation they think they are running. Tomorrow they shall receive an angry phonecall. In the meantime, I only hope that this new ip address is still (or should I say "now") a truly static one - if you're reading this, it probably is.
  • 9/10/04 The Liberals won the election. And it looks like they will control the senate. I'm disgusted and exhausted. I cannot believe the stupidity of the Australian public.
  • 25/7/04  Palmer's Oz Politics is a reasonably well put together site about australian politics. Try out the "who should I vote for" questionnare.
  • 18/7/04 The Libs are Ruining the Country. A call to readers to carefully consider who they vote for in the coming election.
  • 4/7/04 Here's a site dissing the Bush administration. Always good to see that some of the yanks are on our side :-)
  • 24/6/04 DRM and why it's not a good thing. For you lackeys, that's "Digital Rights Management" and it's what's going to take away your freedom and make your life less pleasant - so pay attention.
  • 24/6/04 Do you remember when Madonna covered Don McLean's "American Pie"? well, that was the day the music died.
  • 20/2/03 An unimportant message from an unimportant person. A mass-mailed letter bearing John Howard's signature warns Australians to "be alert but not alarmed" and "take necessary steps to protect ourselves" while somehow remaining very vague as to exactly what it is we should be alert about.
  • 8/2/03 An interesting article about the internet and what it really is.
