Because of the apparent nature of the swing against Labour, being more-or-less across the board, I think it's quite likely that the result is due to people's fear of an interest rate hike.
That is despite the fact that all the economic analysts have been saying that which party gets in will have little effect on interest rates.
My predictions for the future: Interest rates go up, slightly, in the very near term. Various folks suffer financial hardship because of this. Most of them would have been better off with Labour's tax cuts and family assistance etc.
Well, if you were stupid enough to vote Liberal out of fear of a rate hike, you've only got yourself to blame.
